1. Introduction
- Welcome to Componental.co, the home of Dubby—the ultimate music multi-tool. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of our website, product (Dubby hardware/software), studio platform, and community tools. By accessing or using any Componental services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
2. Service Description
Componental provides
- Dubby device: A customizable, quadrophonic, open-source music tool for DJs, musicians, audio engineers, and creators.
- Dubby Studio platform: An online hub for sharing, browsing, and uploading audio effects and synthesizer algorithms.
- Community and collaboration features: Discord-based forums, workshops, and live events.
- Shop and crowdfunding options: For purchasing Dubby and accessories.
Dubby enables advanced audio processing (reverb, delay, FM synth, quadrophonic outputs) and can be customized with new algorithms via C++, Max Gen~, and other frameworks.
3. User Eligibility & Account Requirements
- Usage is intended for persons aged 16+ residing in the EU (unless parental consent is provided per local law).
- Registration may be required for studio/community participation and purchases.
- Users must provide accurate information and are responsible for securing their accounts.
- Community standards require respectful interaction and compliance with anti-abuse policies.
4. Your Use of the Platform
Acceptable use: for creative music making, experimentation, sharing, and collaboration—not for unlawful or exploitative purposes.
- Do not upload malware, infringe third-party intellectual property, or harass others on the platform.
- You may contribute algorithms, effects, and other content—granting Componental a non-exclusive license to host, display, and distribute submissions.
- Physical customization: Devices and interface panels may be modified as described, but warranty may be affected by aftermarket alterations.
5. Intellectual Property
- Componental’s Dubby device, platform algorithms, and associated materials are predominantly released under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, permitting noncommercial modification and sharing with attribution and share-alike terms.
- Exceptions apply to certain proprietary algorithms or physical components, which will be clearly identified in their documentation or product descriptions. For these proprietary elements, restrictions on reproduction, modification, and redistribution apply unless stated otherwise or agreed by separate license.
- Trademarks: Dubby™, Componental™ are registered or common-law marks. Third-party content (Max Gen~, Daisy, etc.) referenced as per respective owner licenses.
When you upload algorithms or other content to Componental, you may select one of the following licensing options for your work:
- Default License: The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
This allows others to share and adapt your work for noncommercial purposes, provided proper credit is given and adaptations are licensed under the same terms. - Commercial License: If you wish to charge for access or commercial use of your work, you may do so subject to our commercial licensing options and platform terms.
- Transaction Fees for Commercial Submissions: If you choose the commercial licensing option via the Componental platform, you agree that Componental will deduct a transaction fee from each sale to cover payment processing and platform administration costs. The standard fee is currently set at 7% of the gross sale price but may be updated in the future; any changes will be communicated to you prior to taking effect. Transaction fee details will be clearly shown at the point of sale and on your account dashboard.
- Public Domain Option: Optionally, you may dedicate your work to the public domain (CC0), in which case anyone may use your work for any purpose, including commercial use, without restriction.
By submitting content, you confirm that you hold the necessary rights to license your work as described above, and you agree that your selected license will be publicly displayed with your submission.
6. Pricing, Payment, and Termination
- All shop payments (direct or via Kickstarter) are securely handled; local VAT and taxes are displayed at checkout.
- Pre-orders, refunds, and cancellation policies follow EU Consumer Rights Directive and Kickstarter policies.
- Termination: You may close your account or withdraw from the community at any time. Data retention after termination aligns with GDPR requirements.
7. Data Protection & Privacy
- Your personal info (email, name, etc.) is collected for registration, order fulfillment, and event communication.
- We do not share your data with third parties except for payment processing or legal compliance.

- Dubby Studio and all upload/sharing tools are operated in compliance with GDPR and the new EU Data Act (Sept 2025), including data access rights and portability to other platforms.
8. Disclaimers and Liability
- Dubby is offered “as is”—no guarantee of error-free operation or fitness for every purpose.
- Componental limits liability to the extent permitted by EU law; not responsible for user-generated content, hardware modification impacts, or service interruptions.
- Event-based workshops and hackathons are subject to additional terms and conditions for safety and fair conduct.
9. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark and/or the European Union.
- Disputes will be resolved locally unless otherwise agreed—see [Contact] for legal inquiries.
10. Changes to Terms
- Terms may change periodically. Updates will be posted on this page, with prominent notice and (where feasible) direct email to registered users.
